Origin of Hi-Lock Nuts

During the 2nd world war, Nylon-Nuts began to be used as locking nuts for fighters and tanks in Military Force. However, as Nylon-Nuts were weak in high temperature and outside atmosphere, alternative nuts were sought instead of them. An idea of a manager responsible for repair, that normal standard nuts is slightly deformed, showed the same good results as the Nylon-Nuts. The study of it was promoted then in US-Army and Air Force. In 1963 NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration ) adopted it. Therefore the Hi-Lock Nuts, which are further improved nuts of US Military Force’s nuts, are the more reliable nuts among many kinds of commercially available prevailing nuts.

Locking Method of Hi-Lock Nuts

The Hi-Lock Nut has such structure that 3 portions of the tapered upper side and therefore one or two threads of the nut are depressed towards inside. Because of pitch circle deformation into triangle, friction torque occurs when a round bolt is inserted. One or two threads in triangle form give elastic spring effects, so that the nuts can be used repeatedly.

1. Locking effect
The nut in one piece can give a friction. Therefore fallout of nuts caused by reduced axial force can be
prevented. Stable locking effects can show even at the intensely vibrating place.
2. Repeatly usable
Removed nuts can be remounted holding the same function.
3. Holdable at middle position
The nuts can be used not only to fasten at an end position but also to be hold at a middle position.
4. Reduction of total-cost
Compared with other locking nuts, the nuts are cheaper and superior therefore in cost performance. In addition, no adhesives, no washers or dowel pins are needed to lock. That makes total cost down possible.
5. Heat and weather resistent
The nuts manufactured of single metal are superior in resistance against heat and weather.
6. Broad variety of materials and sizes
The nuts can be manufactured of SS-steel, carbon-steel, stainless steel etc.in various type of
small-sized, flange, Whitworth thread, Unified thread etc.

Locking Method of Hi-Lock AD

The locking method is fundamentally the same as that of Hi-Lock Nuts. Both sides of the parallel nut side and therefore one or two threads of the nut are depressed towards inside. Normal standard nuts to be used are generally cold formed, its bore is formed with taper and its width has fluctuation, which influence the locking effect. To secure appropriate fastening force, the nuts are processed with compensation.

Features of Hi-Lock AD

The Hi-Lock AD is a further advanced locking nut, based on conventional Hi-Lock Nut (Patent applied). It has same 6 features as the Hi-Lock Nut. In addition, it provides with 2 features.

1. Locking effect
The nut in one piece can give a friction. Therefore fallout of nuts caused by reduced axial force can bet
prevented. Stable locking effects can show even at the intensely vibrating place.
2. Repeatly usable
Removed nuts can be remounted holding the same function.
3. Holdable at middle position

5. Heat and weather resistent

6. Broad variety of materials and sizes

7. Lower price
Standard Nuts are used so that Hi-Lock AD can be offered with cheaper than conventional locking nut.
8. Replaceable without design change because of the same size as normal nuts
Normal standard nuts corresponding to JIS B 1181 are used as starting material. Therefore the nut
dimension is identical so that it is not necessary to change the design and possible to replace directly.

Fixing tool based on new concept for sewege pipe manholes.

Rubber joints are used in sewege pipe manholes to flexibly connect sewege pipes to walls of the manhole. Hi-Lock Band surely fixes the rubber joint watertight in a hole of the manhole wall.

Manufacturing type and dimensions (Diameter inclusive cover before expanding)

The following types are manufactured in series. However any dimension of your request can be accepted.
200Type S(286mm)、M(291mm)、L(296mm)
250Type S(338mm)、M(340mm)、L(348mm)
300Type S(393mm)、L(402mm)

1. Easy Installation (Only expanding the diameter)
The band is necessary only to expand in a manhole wall hole together with rubber joint. No working
is necessary such as fixing through inserting a spacer etc.
2. Mountable in infinite positions
Fixing force (water-tightness of rubber joint) is secured independent of the drilling diameter
fluctuation of a hole of manhole walls.
3. Reusable even if fixing fails
Once the band is expanded, it shrinks never. However with specialized tool, the band can be easily
shrunk, removed without damage and remounted.
